Valerie Batten, originally from Edmonton, Alberta, decided to move to St. Marys, Ontario, where she opened her lovely little shop, Stonetown Bedding and Gifts in July, 2008. Since then, the store has been the target of shoppers far and wide.
Canadian-Made Christmas Gifts
Valerie features many things that are made in Canada, rather unusual in these days of foreign imports. For example: queen sheet sets at $130.00 the set; pillows at $35.99 each and comforters that run from $100.00 to $250.00 depending on size. Other Canadian-made goods include Walltalk...vinyl sheets that can be put onto a wall and easily removed. They are mostly black and have such sayings as "Live Well...Laugh Often...Love Much." Another Canadian-made item is Baby Onesies...adorable little night shirts in various colors and styles for $23.99.
Jewelry
Valerie has a fine selection of jewelry including leather bracelets at $1.50 and many necklaces and pins at various prices. All fine quality and attractive. One really needs to go into the store and see the jewelry in person to be able to choose among the many different styles.
Bamboo Towels
One of the most interesting set of towels is the bamboo display. The towels and face cloths are very soft and luxurious and are priced at $5.99 for the face cloths, $11.99 for the hand towels and the very generous bath towels go for $23.99. This is true bathing luxury and once you try them you won't want to use anything else!
Organic Cotton Robes
A very interesting display shows bathrobes in cream and beige made of organic cotton. Originally $75.00, they are on sale for Christmas for $50.00. Some items include Canadian-made body lotions, soaps and other cosmetic needs from $6.99 to $13.99. Also, look over the Canadian-made greeting cards...a great assortment at $4.50.
Miscellaneous Gifts
Valerie carries switch flop sandals from $45.00 to $65.00; lip balms, body butter and soaps from $2.99 to $15.00, and coasters at $4.99 .She gift wraps free of charge in either a black or orange bag with tissue paper. Another novel idea is shower blocks.. little square blocks that are put on the floor of the shower where the water will hit them. They come in different categories...for instance there are Sleep Aid, Combat Cold, Less the Stress and Shake the Aches: A great little gift for $5.00.
